In this chunk of the nonfiction book The Culture of Fear, Barry Glassner tells of how America takes things out of hand because of how the media potrays small issues. The media makes it seem as if the situation at hand is bigger than it really is. Instead of adressing the bigger problems that should be focused on, the media focuses on the problems that are insignificant and then later are put out as something major that needs to be adressed right away. Glassner adresses how the media puts "fear" into America by focusing on missing children, bad mothers, and child violence too much causing fear and confusion.
Dissussion Questions:
1. How has the medias affect on people worsen insignificant problems?
2.Does it seem possible that the media can influence people to do these corrupt things they speak of so much?
